Deep Action: Sacred People, Sacred Earth Day of Action – global interfaith event
We are united by a fundamental belief that all people, all living things, and the Earth are sacred. The world needs a compassionate, just response to COVID-19 and climate change, and people of faith need to lead the way. (Sacred People, Sacred Earth)
A global, multi-faith coalition of established and emerging climate leaders in faith communities – across 14 countries – has come together to create an ambitious statement “Sacred People, Sacred Earth” and accompanying day of action that reflects our deepest values and beliefs.
This will be one of the the biggest multi-faith day of climate action the world has ever seen – on March 11, 2021. It’s called the Sacred People, Sacred Earth Day of Action: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3438962266180220
In November 2020, six TEDx events around the world with more than 1,000 people of diverse religions kicked off mobilizing for Sacred People, Sacred Earth Day of Action.
It was incredible. People of different creeds, geographies, races and generations passionately united for climate justice. Singing, praying, learning together – and committing to action. It was powerful.
One participant said, “I was so moved – this was the best call I’ve ever been on.”
Another participant: “I love the boldness of the demands. Great to see a multi-faith group stepping up to face the climate emergency head-on.”
Within 15 minutes after the end of the calls, we had 350 sites signed up to host events in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Europe.
Your support is the difference-maker for this mass mobilization. Will you sign on and join us now?
Political and financial leaders listen to numbers – especially when they’re big. That’s why we’re going to get thousands of places of prayer and worship to come together on March 11. Then, we’ll continue to build moral power in support of a bold set of demands – like ensuring that every single person has access to clean energy, no more financing for fossil fuels and industrial agriculture, and a just transition for workers and communities impacted by climate and the energy transition.
Climate change is an emergency. We have a plan to organize diverse religious groups at the grassroots at an entirely new scale in response. We need you to be part of this and we hope you’ll sign on today.
At the Oslo Buddhistsenter we will host this event called Deep action when Gunaketu will lead you through a contemplation that will lead onto a direct action in your community. We will meet again at this same link at 17,.00 to share from our experience.
Bring a sign saying «#Faiths4Climate» and a mobile or camera to take a picture or film of what you do.
